SILENT SIREN is a 3 member girl band from Tokyo, Japan.

The band was formed in the summer of 2010 by Sumire Yoshida and Hinako Umemura, later the same year they invited fellow model Aina Yamauchi to join the group, in 2012 Yukako Kurosaka joined the band.

in 2016 the band officially changed their name from "Silent Siren" to "SILENT SIREN" in all caps.

All members are in charge of the lyrical and musical composition of their songs.

In September of 2021 Hinako Umemura quit the band [1], In December of 2021 the band when on an indefinite hiatus.

History[]

Band Formation[]

SILENT SIREN was formed on summer of 2010 by Sumire and Hinako who at the time worked as models for the magazine CUTiE, the band started as a hobby project but due to lack of work it gained priority for the girls, soon they invited friend and fellow model Aina to join the band.

Band Name[]

Suu accidentally came with the name for the group, in a conversation with the others members she pointed the contradiction of how the words Silent (pronounced in Japanese as Sairento) and Siren (pronounced in Japanese as sairen) sounded similar yet had almost opposite meanings.

Debut[]

The band first concert was on September of 2010 of the same year it was held their first at the Harajuku Astro Hall.

In 2012 Yukako was invited by Aina to join the band, in February 8 the band released their Debut mini album “Saisai” and in March 3 the band did their first appearance at "Tokyo Girls Collection" where they served as the opening act, in May it was announced on the Radio show "STROBE NIGHT!" that their first tour would start in July, on July 4 the group released their second mini-album "Love Shiru" and in July 24 the group played the first date of the tour, the same day it was announced that the group was signed under the label Dreamusic and were to release their first major single the next year.

In February 20 of 2013 the band released their 2nd single "Stella☆", in they March appeared at "Kansai Collection 2013 S/S" where they were the opening act of the event and also appeared as models, next month the group released their 1st album "Start→ ", on August the group released their 3rd single "Besan" and In October 30 their 4th single "I x U".

In February 12 of 2014 their 2nd album "31 Wonderland" was released and reached 2nd place at Oricon daily chart, in March 12 they released their first Live BD & DVD " Silent Siren Live Tour 2013 Winter ~ Sai Sai 1st Year Festival! Sai @ Saippi DiverCity TOKYO " and video clips BD & DVD " Silent Siren Music Clips 1 ", on May 3 the band announced that their first Nippon Budokan performance was set for January 17 of 2015

in June the band Released the 5th single " Lucky Girl " and in July 31st they held their first overseas event at Music Zone in Hong Kong, in August the band released their 6th single " BANG!BANG!BANG! " n October the band guest again at the "HALLOWEEN PARTY" event, on December 3 the band Released their 7th single " Koi Yuki " and in December 28 they appearance at "COUNTDOWN JAPAN 14/15", one of the biggest year-end festivals in Japan.

On January 14 of 2015 the band released their 8th single " KAKUMEI " and that same month they held their first Nippon Budokan performance at the final of their “Silent Siren Live Tour 2014 → 2015 Winter-Go to Budokan! Siren GO!”, on February the group released their 3rd album "Silent Siren " and in June 10 their 9th single " Happy Marriage ", the next day they played in the Japanese Red Cross Society “LOVE in Action Meeting (LIVE Nippon Budokan ).In August the band played at "ROCK IN JAPAN FESTIVAL 2015" and also released their 10th single " August Night " and in November the group released their 11th single "alarm".

In January 25 of 2016 the band appeared at "GUM ROCK FES In Nippon Budokan".

from February 19 to February 28 the band started their temporal cafe shop "Silent Siren "S" CAFE" at Harajuku, Tokyo.

In March 2 the group released their 4th album " S " and also appeared in "TOKYO GIRLS MUSIC FES. 2016".

in July the band appeared in " J-POP SUMMIT 2016" in San Francisco which was their first time playing in the United States .

from September 9 to October 10 the band toured the cities of Jakarta , Shanghai , Los Angeles , San Francisco , Taipei , Hong Kong, in their first world tour "SILENT SIREN S WORLD TOUR 2016", later the appeared at "HALLOWEEN PARTY 2016" and in November 26 in "MOSHI MOSHI NIPPON FESTIVAL 2016 in TOKYO".

In December 30 the band decided to change their name from "Silent Siren" with low caps to "SILENT SIREN" with all caps, at their "Silent Siren 2016 End of Year Live Special Dream on!" the band announced that they were transferring from DreaMusic to the label EMI Records .

In March 1 of 2017 the band transferred from the label DreaMusic to EMI Records, later the band released their 12th single "Fujiyama Disco" and their first compilation album "Silent Siren Selection ", both where released the same day.

for most of the year the band guested on several musical and fashion festivals like "COUNT DOWN TV GIRLS FES 2017", "ESP Gakuen presents COLORS OSAKA", "KANSAI COLLECTION 2017 SPRING & SUMMER" and several others, in May the band released their 13th single " AKANE/Awaawa " and in October the 14th single " Just Met ", in November 14 the band held their tour final show at the Nippon Budokan.

in December 27 the band released their 5th album " GIRLS POWER " and the next day they guested in "rockin'on presents COUNTDOWN JAPAN 17/18".


In early 2018 the band became representatives for with the restaurant brand Tenkaippin, they later released the single "TenkaIppin no Theme" as part of their promotions, in July the band released their 15th single " 19 summer note" , the same year the band collaborated with the idol group PASSPO☆ to released a joint single, in September they appeared in "Saisai ✕ PASSPO☆The first and last single match! and in November 16 the band released their 16th single " Go Way! ".

On March 13 of 2019 during "Saisai" day the band released their 6th album " 31313", the band spend most of the year touring around japan.

In 2020 the band prepared several activities to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the band formation but several of them got delayed because of the coronavirus pandemic, on April 15th the band started a variety show channel on YouTube and the band started their activities as YouTubers, the 7th album "Mix10th" was set to be released on May 13 their 7th album but the date was postponed to September 2, on June the band released a song with Aimi from Poppin'Party

Poppin'Party[]

Poppin'Party mentioned SILENT SIREN as one of the groups inspirations.

Both groups collaborated in the dual join single NO GIRL NO CRY and appeared together in the music video for the song.

In 2020 Aimi was featured in both the song and music video for the song "Up To You" from SILENT SIRENT'S album Mix10th.

SCANDAL[]

Hinako and SCANDAL's drummer Rina Suzuki are close friends, they met in 2011 while working on the set of a photoshoot for the magazine CUTiE!, since then both groups have appeared together at multiple events.

PASSPO☆[]

Both groups are part of Platinum Production.

In 2015 during PASSPO☆ 2015's TiF performance Yukako was invited to perform with the group as a member for a day.

Silent Siren wrote a song for PASSPO☆ 2016's single "Gimme Gimme Action / Love Refrain"

Ami Uchiyama[]

Aina's sister Ami Uchiyama (pen name) is an idol and member of the group Rock A Japonica under Stardust Promotion (best know for producing Momoiro Clover Z).
